Schools in Culture are cultural education programme developed by Bunker which aims to bring contemporary theatre to schools all over Slovenia and to engage participating students not only as consumers of art, but also as creative producers. The project aspires to establish art as an entity in its own right and thus presents artistic practice as an outstanding teaching instrument, liable to produce impressive results.

Schools in culture are based on a redefined concept of school in nature, only that the environment is urban and not rural and that the theme is culture and not nature. An intensive three-day program that brings together children and teachers out of the normal school environment and immerses them in culture. Three day programme is packed with workshops, performances, discussions and exploration of Ljubljana’s art scene even by transforming cultural organizations to temporary “bedrooms” where participants sleep.

Primarily the School in culture programme aims at chilldren on primary school level, but Bunker also organises School in culture for pedagogical workers aimed at teachers wich undergo same three day programme of workshops, performances, discussions and living in cultural organizations.
