The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on our relationships and habits. Suddenly, people were no longer able to attend a theatre performance or concert and could no longer meet and talk in a foyer during a break. With no audience and no income, many cultural institutions had difficulty surviving in this unexpected situation.
The pandemic has also brought about some significant changes in the Create to Connect -> Create to Impact project. Instead of influencing the audience by standing on a stage, the members of the project team were suddenly stuck at home, communicating in “disembodied” online sessions.
The research team of the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts is now focusing on this “liminal” situation in Europe and beyond, and is trying to shed light on the confusing reality. The research team has already analysed the communication during the online consortium meeting, which was originally planned to take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, and has collected brief opinions from the project participants. The video can be understood as a “jigsaw puzzle” of different voices and images that construct and represent the current reality of cultural institutions.
